eflections on the China (South Africa) Export Brand Joint Expo
This September, our company took part in the China (South Africa) Export Brand Joint Expo, held from 23 to 25 September 2026 at the Gallagher Convention Center, located at 19 Richards Drive, Midrand, Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa. We were stationed at Booth 3H105, where we displayed our main furniture collection over the full three days of the show.
Three busy days at the venue
The floor was lively from the very first morning. Over the three days, we met buyers from many different backgrounds — local South African retailers, importers from neighboring African markets such as Zimbabwe, Zambia and Mozambique, as well as visitors from further afield in Europe and the Middle East. Standing in one booth, we could hear several languages at once, which made the atmosphere especially open and energetic.
Most visitors stopped to touch the fabric, check the frame construction and sit on the chairs to test comfort. We answered questions about materials, craftsmanship, minimum order quantities, lead time and shipping terms, exchanged business cards and catalogs, and added many new contacts on WhatsApp for follow-up. Several buyers showed genuine interest in specific pieces and asked us to send quotations after the show.
What we hope to achieve
Our main goal was to increase the visibility of our brand overseas and use this opportunity to build more potential partnerships. The expo gave us a direct face-to-face channel to the South African market, letting us hear local preferences firsthand rather than guessing from behind a screen. We see this exhibition as the first step in opening up South Africa, and we look forward to turning the connections we made into lasting cooperation.
A warm welcome after the show
Beyond business, one of our most pleasant surprises was a friendly local customer, who invited us for a two-day, one-night getaway at a resort hotel after the exhibition. We had time to relax by the pool, taste local dishes and enjoy the surrounding scenery at a slower pace — a wonderful break after three intensive days on our feet. It was also a genuine chance to experience the local lifestyle beyond the convention center.
Closing thoughts
Looking back, this trip to South Africa was far more than a business event. It was an interesting and memorable experience: we introduced our products to a wider international audience, made valuable contacts, and felt the warmth of the local people. We are grateful for every conversation at Booth 3H105, and we are already looking forward to returning.
